Does dandruff causes hair loss?

I am experience lot of hair loss these days. I also have dandruff. Please tell if dandruff is one on the cause of hair loss.Does dandruff causes hair loss?
If its regular dandruff it shouldnt cause hair loss, however if the reason for the dandruff escalates (not washing, not washing and rinsing properly, not brushing the scalp while shampoo is applied,not using and oil treatment in winter) the hair can become brittle and fall out. Keep hair moisturized in winter, dont use alcohol based products on it, dont use hot water but warm water, allow hair to dry naturally instead of using a blow dryer all the time. And last but not least hair falls out when you contract certain STD's.Does dandruff causes hair loss?
