Does dandruff cause hair loss?

I have dandruff and kinda thick, wavy hair

caucasian hair, and i'd say about light-med. color

My sister and I got in a fight and she pulled my hair

Now my hair feel really weak and it had already been feeling like that before from the scalp and dandruff and such

Can I lose my hair? I stress alot too, if thats a factor.Does dandruff cause hair loss?
Wow, that must have been some fight. Be careful, because pulling your hair at the scalp can permanently damage your scalp. If you know that your hair is already looser at the scalp then that's not a good sign. Some people have permanent bald spots from pulling their hair at the scalp, so be careful.

No, dandruff can't make you loose hair. Stress can, bad health, and genes can, as well as having damaged hair.Does dandruff cause hair loss?
Hi, dandruff just a common condition that affects areas of the skin that is rich in oil glands. This can either be the face, upper chest and back, and the scalp.

Usually seborrhoeic dermatitis can just cause flaking of scalp. This is what is commonly known as dandruff. Sometimes, it can even spread to eyebrows, side of the nose, behind the ears, upper chest and back.

Dandruff usually will cause itching. Dandruff will not cause hair loss, but the itching problem can. Constant itching will cause one to keep scratching the scalp. Vigorous scratching can cause hair loss and worse, damage the scalp.
I don't know dandruff cause hair loss. But I have been read this article more useful for my family.

While dandruff does not actually cause hair loss, you can have a full head of hair and still have dandruff, it should be cleared up if possible, as a clean scalp can only help prevent hair loss.

Changing to a good quality shampoo may solve your problem, or you may consider seeing a doctor who may advise 'hydrocortisone' or 'coal-tar' treatment; or may give you medicated shampoo with Ketoconazole; Selenium sulphide; or Zinc pyrithione.

Problems with dandruff is worse in the winter months and better in the summer (caused by changes in humidity). The skin cells on the scalp are constantly renewing and the old cells get pushed to the surface by the new ones. If you have dandruff, the process of skin renewal, or skin turnover, speeds up to twice the normal rate, hence a greater number of dead cells are shed. Moreover, dandruff is believed to be associated with an overgrowth of fungus commonly found on the skin and scalp, called 'Pityrosporum ovale'. Hormones may also be involved, because dandruff usually starts after puberty. Since dandruff is a natural process, it can not be eliminated. It can only be managed and controlled.

Factors such as:

Hormonal imbalance.

Poor health.

Poor hygiene.

Allergic hypersensitive.

Lack of rest.

Emotional stress.

Nutritional deficiencies, for example, a lack of vitamin B or essential fatty acids.

A diet high in sugar refined carbohydrates, fat and starch.

Heredity predisposition.

Excessive use of hair sprays and gels.

Improper use of hair-colouring products or excessive use of hot hair curlers or curling irons.

Cold weather and dry indoor heating.

Stress and anxiety.

Infrequent shampooing of the hair or inadequate rinsing of the scalp and hair.

may also contribute to more dandruff.
